is there to take care of your business.
Who needs Managed Network Services?
Many small- to mid-sized companies find themselves in a
good position to take advantage of technology that was
previously only available to their big competitors.
This is what the computer industry calls "scalability":
If it works for someone big, it should work for someone
small and vise versa. There is an expensive problem
with the "scalability" model for office systems:
Someone big can afford the expert staff to maintain the
system while someone small may be left in a nightmare
cycle of vulnerability, failure, and expensive recovery.
If your company:
 | uses an internal computer network to share
files, printers, internet access, databases,
scheduling, or messaging or |
 | has computers a salesman or tech guy called a
"server" and |
 | doesn't have a big enough network to warrant
internal staff to maintain it or |
 | has internal staff that is fairly familiar with
your systems but could sometimes use help with
high-level technical issues
- or - |
 | has a network that seems to run well and doesn't
really think about it breaking down... |
...then you may need our services!
How will Managed Network Services benefit my company?
Office systems, especially server-based LAN's,
require regular maintenance to continue reliable operation.
The failure may first appear as a slowing in performance
leading to an eventual grinding halt, or may creep up
with no warning and stop everything suddenly (we call it
the "IT Train Wreck"). Sometimes these failures
are from something obviously wrong like a virus or worm
attack, but other failures may result from normal daily
operations like a log file on a server growing until it
fills the main hard drive partition and causes the
server to fail.
Our service is designed to provide the preventative
maintenance to avoid the foreseeable and an IT On Demand
source familiar with your environment to quickly
overcome the unforeseeable. In short, our service
gives you the security of an on-staff expert without the
$100,000 annual salary.
What does iqOnline do to manage my
network?
When a company becomes an iqOnline Managed Network
customer, our first job is to become familiar with and
document your environment; look for and correct
potential vulnerabilities; put automated failure
notifications to our NOC (Network Operations Center) in
place; and set up a remote maintenance schedule for your
system.Maintenance tasks appropriate for your office
system will be performed on a regular schedule remotely
from our NOC. Reports of any potential problems
will be issued immediately upon discovery with our
recommendations for correction.
If your system experiences a failure or requires
other attention, you can call our help line. If
the issue can be addressed remotely, you are guaranteed
one hour response time. If the issue requires
on-site work, you are guaranteed that a specialist will
be dispatched within two hours of your report.
In addition the the included time for completing your
regular maintenance schedule, our Managed Network
Services also include "no additional charge" time blocks
each month that can be used for dealing with your
issues. Additional time is billed at half our
normal rates.
How much will this cost?
Our service is generally billed on a
per-service/per-server basis. To understand this
model, you must first know what we call a "server" and a
"service". A "server" is a computer attached to
other computers through a network that provides
centralized "services". A "service" is a particular function that a
server performs such as sharing files, Microsoft SQL Server
(database) access, Microsoft Exchange (email and
scheduling), file backups, internet connection sharing,
etc. Not all networks have computers dedicated to
this purpose, but instead use computers that are also
workstations.
Each site is evaluated for a flat fee and then
assigned a value based on its complexity. Most
sites use the following scale:
| Unit Type |
Initial Fee |
Monthly Fee |
| Workstation |

You may either pay the recurring fees monthly (with
no obligation) or prepay for 11 months of service and
get the 12th month of service free.
I'm still
not sure if I need it. How can I make a good
decision about this?
Call us. We'll talk to you about your situation
and help you decide. Here's the BOMBSHELL:
We will be honest with you! We don't believe that
our service is for everyone and we're not willing to put
our reputation at risk to sell you something you don't
need.
Our goal is to profit from our talents by making them
available to a large enough pool of needs for them to
have value. Only the very large
companies need our kind of expertise on a dedicated
basis. But what about the company that needs
our expertise a few days (or even a few hours) out of
the month? Their need is just as real, just not as
often. To us, having 20 companies that need a day
of work every month is the same as having 1 company that
needs 20 days.
To be absolutely blunt, if you have the needs, we'd
really like to help you. If you don't need us yet,
we'd rather you use your money to grow your business.
We think you'll appreciate our honesty and call again
when your company is ready. Either way, we will
help you make an informed decision rather than just
trying to "make the sale". |
